Based on the response from the first Knittahookalong, perhaps hats were too much of a challenge for a 1st project. :PThis one should be easy enough for knitters and crocheters of all levels, and it s…

Some info about Brenda's kitty blanket idea: She suggested 2'x2', not very lacy (so they can keep warm). They can be send to: Brenda Currer c/o Wildwood Pet Cremations 47 Lowell Rd Enfield ME 04493

I've never made a rug because I don't have the patience to take on such a big thing. But I could see making a bunch of smaller pieces and stitching them together...

I had to learn to knit in junior high school but I was so bad at it. I always want to learn again tho. now that I've 'matured' a bit, maybe I'll get the patience to do do it. always want to make a shawl or something. any tips where I can learn it online and which 'tools' I should buy to start with? thanks!

That sounds like a great idea Brenda. I can't crochet hats for shit but am capable of straight lines!

I'm still hoping to figure out the issues with my hat and get it out to Tania, but I have a suggestion for a future group project. I volunteer at our town animal shelter. It's very underfunded and the only one in the community. The shelter is struggling, and to top everything off, it got broken into last week by vandals.

I was cleaning cages the other day and noticed we're getting low on little knitted and crocheted throw blankets to put in the cats' cages, and the ones we do have have certainly seen their better days.

We like to put a little blanket in the corner of the cage so a cat can cuddle in it or make a little nest/bed for themselves. They get used, and the cats seem to be much more comfortable than on the metal floor of the cage.

Maybe we could do a similar project to the hat project, but make small throws for my shelter? I know Meg, who runs the place, would absolutely love it. Plus it's so simple, anyone could participate, and it uses all your scraps since the cats don't care what color it is.

What do you think?

If we decide to do it I'll take picture of the kitties snuggling in them! :-P

I'm unable to knit or crochet, not for lack of trying. However, I support those of you that can do more than make knots.

We so need to change the name of the group to something involving hookers.
