FYI--

I sent out a myspace bulletin and then left the same bulletin as a *comment* on all of my friends' pages. That way anyone visiting one of my friends will see my comment too.

To make a myspace bulletin---

(1) Take one of the ones you got today from me or VIPeeps.

(2) Click REPLY TO POSTER

(3) In the right hand corner of the editing screen--parallel to the fonts--press the HTML button

(4) Copy the text that comes up. (CTRL-C)

(5) Close out, start your own bulletin, and paste the code you got. (CTRL-P)

(6) Delete all the text until you get to

(7) Preview then post.

Ok, so yesterday was a fun day spent mainly in front of computer doing all sorts of promotion for Cheeks. I know every single one of us has RT Cheeks or CheeksTVOffic messages concerning links, dates, availability. It is all good but it is not really going to be an effective campaign as usually we follow each other on twitter so the pool of people getting these messages is closed. What we need to do is to get out with the message to people who are not in our immediate pool but who might be relevant. So target DJ’s, Music blogs twits, clubs, scene reporters, etc. What I’ve done was simply go to http://wefollow.com/ and have a look at the directory under music and entertainment. I did not blindly mass twitted everyone with big number of followers instead have taken a moment to look at the person’s twitts to see what sort of music they are promoting/ listening to/ interested in. There is no point twitting about Cheeks to a country music station or someone who runs a political blog or a family life style blog.
Below is the list of the twitters I have targeted yesterday. What I’ve also tried to do was always change the message slightly, if possible to tweak it to fit as a response to something that the person has tweeted – remember these guys are also after followers and interaction with the public and it makes it look so much better if you either have a genuine interest in their own work or at least you’re able to find some points of interest in their work. If there is none it usually means that they will not be interested in promoting and RT the links to Cheeks music. So: encourage them to listen & dance to it, ask for a radio spin, ask for a blog write up, ask for an opinion or a review, if the target twitter seems sympathetic to our cause ask for a RT. All these things make it look less like spamming and are more likely to produce tangible results. I would also say that usually it is enough if about 20 ppl tweet the same receipients to get noticed – on the law of averages – any more and you might get an unexpected reaction asking you more or less politely to stop twitting.
