"an experience that satisfies every sense"

Hi All :)

Since many people are heading off to street team (i.e., market in person for Cheeks) for the first time, I thought I would share my flyering tips. I've been street-teaming for awhile now and these work for me. If you have any other suggestions, feel free and post as well. Everyone kind of gets a style eventually--my favorites are #2, #5, #6, #8f, and #9.

Please remember to look out for "no soliciting/trespassing" signs ;)

Handing out flyers:

(1) Distribute flyers at the exit of the nearest subway/bus stop. Note--this works ok, but my favorite method is #2.
(2) At the end of the concert, hold open doors for people as they exit the building and hand out flyers. You make a great impression & people take the flyers since you're polite for them.
(3) Hand out flyers to people in lines--waiting to get in, use the bathroom, order food, get t-shirts, get autographs. They're stuck there anyway :)
(4) Hand out flyers at intermission. The people that are in their seats won't likely move and you can answer questions leisurely.

Places to leave/post flyers:

Note--asking permission to leave flyers often will help you find even better places to put them! In Richmond, for example, one dance club owner not only said I could flyer inside, but also told me "Hon, go ahead and flyer the front door!"

(5) Put flyers on parked cars in the garage closest to the event. This works well & is easy.
(6) Post flyers in the bathroom stalls at the concert and/or at nearby bars or restaurants. This can be done using 8.5x11 flyers best and doublesided tape (easy to peel off so no vandalism at all!).
(7) Ask to leave a stack of flyers by the register at nearby bars/fast food type places.
(8) Leave/post flyers near (a) atms; (b) the front "window" of newspaper bins (or inside free papers as "inserts"); (c) napkin holders; (d) cigarette stands; (e) merchandise tables; (f) on empty seats during intermission.

Other Tips:

(9) I don't say it to everyone, but when I hand off a flyer, I often say pleasantries like "Thank you for coming!" or "Here's something to check out at home" or "Please look him up."
(10) If possible, wear a Cheeks T-shirt/tank top or carrying a Cheeks tote bag for the flyers.

I hope this helps! Let me know more about your plans and ideas & if you have any questions, please PM me, BrendaSue, or e-mail us at VIPeeps@hotmail.com.

Thanks Everyone!

Wanted to add a practical tip about making the flyers. Kinko's (now FedEx) and Staples lets you make copies using colored paper for free if you do them yourselves. The color choices are limited, but it really makes the flyers stand out. Also, for about $3, they will cut the flyers for you (since one page makes 4 flyers). This is such a time saver and worth every penny!

I'm going to hand out flyers at David Cook on Sept. 5th, at our State Fair & maybe even as I just walk around :). Also, asking coffee Shops & Bars here in Town. I just got the flyers, and I am thinking about various places in my mind already.
